I haven’t watched any cable since Monday night.
Been processing it.
Hadn’t even cried..
Until I saw this tweet come across my timeline.
CNN’s Victor Blackwell talking about Black women.

Please go to the video. It’s very powerful.

We voted 91% for the Vice President.
What was our most important issue?

Saving democracy.

THAT is when I cried. When I found out that the most important issue for Black women was to try and save democracy.
The complete irony of that, considering our history in this country will never be lost on me.

This picture broke me.
The Black woman, wrapped in American flag that she’s trying to fix.
She looks so tired, as she’s doing it.

Victor, I finally cried. 😭😭 I said I wouldn’t, but when I saw her fingers holding the needle, all I could think of was how hard we fought and kept mending the fabric of this nation.

People seem to be stunned by the ‘Aight…bet..’ attitude of Black women post-election.

Me either. It’s almost as if they knew what we knew but hoped we win.
Congratulations to them 🥰

Thank you. I think this was the first time I let myself exhale & absorb the impact of this moment. We voted for democracy. A democracy for a country that continues to tell us, we will never be good enough.

This is true! My main reason for voting in this election, was to save this Democracy. No one cared like Black and Jewish people. Everyone else thought they will be immune to the 💩hitting the fan. We warned you!

Black women are the most patriotic demo in America. Period.

If I was in a coma for 10 years and woke up on election day. The only thing I’d need to know before casting my ballot would be: what are Black women voting for and why.
